Position Summary

As the General Manager (GM) of Casual Joes you will have the opportunity to help build, create, and grow not only this Casual Joe’s Restaurant but potentially many more down the road. This is an exciting and challenging adventure to bring BBQ North, providing creative, fresh, affordable, and unique dining to Whitewater, WI. The job will be ever changing as you grow the business and will require many skills, some of which you will bring with you from your own experience and many more that you will learn on the job. You will actively manage the staff and create accountability that will affect not only the success of the restaurant but also your own financial success through an incentive pay structure. This job has a base pay plus opportunity for additional incentive driven bonuses.  This position will report directly to Tyler Sailsbery, Executive Chef and Proprietor.

 

  1. Employee Management (30%)
    1. Maintain daily checklists and job descriptions for the kitchen staff, bartenders, servers, assistant manager, and shift leads
    2. Perform regular employee reviews
    3. Ensure Assistant Manager is held accountable and delegate responsibility as necessary
    4. Serve HR functions including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining their team; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, enforcing policies and procedures
    5. Ensure proper uniforms
    6. Teach food codes and food safety to all new and incoming cooks, servers, and bartenders
  2. Financial Management (10%)
    1. Control purchases and inventory
    2. Control Payroll
    3. Increase sales and upsell
    4. Remove items that do not have strong margins or have high amounts of waste
  3. Customer Satisfaction (35%)
    1. Respond to all Yelp, Trip Advisor, Facebook, Receipts, and Google reviews
    2. Deal with all in-store complaints or issues while on premises
    3. Reach out to customers to collect feedback and resolve issues
    4. Ensure a clean and safe environment for Guests and employees with a focus on proper sanitation
  4. Catering (15%)
    1. Grow catering arm of the business
    2. Ensure customer follow up and feedback for continued business success
    3. Market catering opportunities to campus organizations

 

  1. Marketing (10%)
    1. Work with Tyler and others to ensure that marketing objectives are being set, tracked, and reached
    2. Attract patrons by developing and implementing marketing, advertising, public and community relations programs, evaluate program results, identify and track changing demands

 

Qualifications

  • Possess any of the following experience:
  • At least three years in an assistant management roll in a quick service restaurant

or

  • One year as a general manager

or

  • Food service experience and culinary management/ hospitality management

training program experience

  • Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel)
  • Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must agree to background and credit check
  • Must become a ServSafe certified food manager within the first 90 days of employment

  • Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants
